Following
its 3 p.m. News Bulletin today, Saudi TV broadcast a brief on “the
confessions of perpetrators of bombings which took place in the city
of Al-Khobar, Euromarche supermarkets and in front of Jarir book store
in Riyadh.” All the perpetrators are of British nationality.
Following is the brief on the confessions of the perpetrators of
the bombings:
The confession of James Patrick Lee:
“I am a British national and working in the Military Hospital as
a Technician for Artificial Limbs. In the month of November, me and
James Kottal had been hired to execute bombings in Riyadh region and
in the coastal areas.
“In the month of December, me and Jimmy Kottal had received
orders to execute a blast in Al-Khobar. On Friday, December 25th, me
and Jimmy Kottal headed to Al-Khobar. After arriving in Al-Khobar, we
went towards Al-Aziziah supermarket where we parked our car after
making some rounds in the area. The targeted car was three parking
away.
“Jimmy operated the bomb and handed it over to me which was kept
in an orange carton.
The carton was placed under the wipers of the front side of the
targeted car. As soon as we put up the carton, we left the
supermarket, heading towards Riyadh as we heard the sound of the
blast. We heard that the explosion was successful. In January, we
received the second order to execute the second bombing somewhere in
Riyadh. Me and Jimmy decided to put up the bomb in the Euromarche, we
had assistance from Liz Walker, a British national as we all met at
Al-Falah Complex. Next morning, we all went in the car to Euromarche,
where Jimmy and Liz Walker, who was carrying the bomb, got off the car
and went into the Euromarche. While I was taking round the Euromarche,
they kept the bomb at the place and returned to the car. Then, Jimmy
Kottal activated the bomb while we were leaving the place.
In March, me and Jimmy Kottal, received the third order for the
third and last bombing. The choice of blast was left to us. We chose
Jarir bookstore. On Thursday evening, me and Jimmy Kottal left Al-Falah
Complex for Olaya. We make a round of Jarir bookstore. On the back
side of the store, Jimmy dropped me off the car at the side of
Kentucky restaurant after I readied the bomb. I walked towards Jarir
bookstore and placed the bomb in a small dustbin at the Jarir store
entrance. Then, I rushed towards our car and got into it. As soon as I
got into the car, I exploded the bomb with a remote control. Then, we
returned to Al-Falah Complex.”

The confession of Christopher Kottel:
“I am a British national and I work for a private company in
Riyadh.
”Me and my friend James Lee received, days ahead of December 15,
orders to carry out a bombing in Al-Khobar on December 15.
”When we arrived in Al-Khobar, I operated the bomb and gave it to
James Lee. It was in an orange carton.
”James Lee placed the bomb at the windshield wipers of the
targeted car. After he had returned to our car, I drove it to Riyadh.
”With respect to the second bombing, I was ordered to carry out
the bombing at Euromarche in Riyadh. On the 10th of January, 2001, I
met James Lee and Liz Walker at James Lee 's residential complex. We
left the residence at 11:30.pm, I operated the bomb and gave it to Liz
who placed it beside the phone cabinets. In our way out, I exploded
the bomb by a remote control.
”Days later, I was also ordered to carry out a third bombing. I
chose Jarir bookstore which is frequented by many westerners.
”On March 15, at 11:30.pm, me and James Lee drove to the
bookstore where James Lee operated the bomb. I exploded the bomb while
we were driving out of the place.”
The confession of Liz Walker:
“I am a British national working for a Saudi holding
manufacturing company in Riyadh as a Director of the company's
production department.
”On January 10, 2001, I received a call from James Kottal who
asked me to meet him at Al-Falah Complex. Kottal informed me that I
should accompany him to Euromarche and place the bomb. This was to
disturb the police for the sake of Sandy (Alexander Mitchell) and his
colleagues. As an idiot, I had agreed to this. I went with James
Christopher Kottal and James Patrick Lee to Euromarche. Then, me and
Jimmy Kottal got off the car and placed the bomb at the phone
cabinets. Then, we got back into the car. While we were driving out,
the bomb was exploded. We, then, went back to the complex.”
