$33.4 BILLION FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN KINGDOM DURING PAST TWO DECADES 

BEIRUT, AUG 28, SPA-- SAUDI ARABIA ATTRACTED $33.4 BILLION OF THE TOTAL VOLUME OF $89 BILLION OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN ARAB COUNTRIES DURING THE PAST TWO DECADES, AL-WATAN DAILY REPORTED.

IT SAID THE FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN THE KINGDOM IS ESTIMATED TO BE 37.5 PER CENT OF THE TOTAL VOLUME OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN ARAB COUNTRIES.

THE DAILY SAID THESE FIGURES ARE RELEASED IN A REPORT ON THE INVESTMENT CLIMATE IN THE ARAB COUNTRIES FOR THE YEAR 2000, RECENTLY ISSUED BY THE ARAB ORGANIZATION FOR GUARANTEE OF INVESTMENT.

THE REPORT HAILED THE INVESTMENT LEGISLATION, PARTICULARLY THE NEW INVESTMENT REGULATIONS ISSUED IN THE KINGDOM.

AT PRESENT, THE FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN THE SAUDI INDUSTRIAL SECTOR IS ESTIMATED AT SR 70 BILLION, MOST OF WHICH IS CONCENTRATED IN THE PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY

DURING THE PAST 15 YEARS FROM 1985 TO 2000, THE REPORT SAID THE VOLUME OF INTER-ARAB INVESTMENT AMOUNTED TO $15.45 BILLION, OF WHICH THE KINGDOM OCCUPIED THE FIRST PLACE AND ATTRACTED $5315.8 MILLION (34.47 PER CENT).--SPA

THE 53,703,354 SR. CONTRACTS HAVE BEEN SIGNED WITH A NUMBER OF NATIONAL COMPANIES.-- SPA

THE EGYPTIAN EXPORTS TO THE KINGDOM INCREASED IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2001.

CAIRO, AUG 22, SPA -- A REPORT ON THE EGYPTIAN EXPORTS RECEIVED BY THE EGYPTIAN MINISTER OF ECONOMY SAID THE VALUE OF THE EGYPTIAN EXPORTS TO THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA FROM JANUARY TO MAY, 2001, AMOUNTED TO $26,859,000.

THE EXPORTS INCLUDED CONCRETE IRON, MEDICINES, ONION AND CARPET PRODUCTS.--

JAPANESE DELEGATION VISITS GIA HEADQUARTERS

RIYADH, AUG 20, SPA -- THE HEAD OF THE STANDING BUDGET COMMITTEE AT THE JAPANESE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, JOSHINARI NOROTA AND HIS ACCOMPANYING DELEGATION VISITED HERE ON MONDAY THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE GENERAL INVESTMENT AUTHORITY (GIA).

DURING THE VISIT, THEY MET WITH SENIOR OFFICIALS OF THE AUTHORITY.
