disease in Saudi Arabia: status report

Ministry of Agriculture and Water pointed out today in its weekly
statement that the number of herds suffering from foot-and-mouth
disease in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had fallen to 26 herds.
In total to date, the number of herds
which had suffered from the disease in various regions of the Kingdom
stood at 134 herds, of which 108 were cured. The affected herds in
various regions of the Kingdom are currently being treated. The total
number of infected animals in these herds was 1,350 (279cows and 1,071
sheep). The number of animals destroyed stood at 135, including four
head of cows and 131 head of sheep.
