Saudi-US relationship is extremely good, says Crown
Prince Abdullah
Riyadh, May 21, SPA -- Crown Prince Abdullah
Bin Abdul-Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard has
affirmed that the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin
Abdul-Aziz at the last week's opening annual session of Shoura (consultative)
Council, reflected clearly the Kingdom's stands toward numerous issues and
provided a future perspective for the thinking of the Saudi leadership. In an
interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Siyassah" published today, Crown Prince
Abdullah said the Saudi people dealt with the recent Riyadh Blasts in the true
spirit of faith and patriotism as well as a sense of high national
responsibility. He also affirmed that the Saudi leadership "will not have mercy
on the perpetrators (of these blasts) and those who sympathize with them, and
those who cover up for them." Crown Prince Abdullah noted that the relationship
between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States as well as between
their people is "extremely good". He affirmed that the two sides held identical
views that there were some persons, notably in the mass media, who try to harm
this relationship. The Crown prince said that the relationship with the United
States was never 'tense' throughout history. "However, we have been in constant
touch and consultations on issues pertaining to this relationship."
In reply to a question about Riyadh blasts,
Crown Prince Abdullah described the explosions as "a satanic act," and said
these explosions are contradictory to Islam, religion and morality. "Moreover, I
am wondering what are the sins of these elderly people, young ones and children
of different nationalities, who were killed in these blasts in our country," he
noted. "The Saudi people, whom I appreciate greatly, have proved their cohesion
with the leadership, in overcoming these incidents which are against our
religion," the Crown Prince said.
"We in the Kingdom are capable ... of dealing
with what happened and will overcome it with wisdom, " the Crown Prince noted.
"As to whom these people are, some say they belong to Al-Qaida, but I don't have
accurate information that confirms it, " he said. Crown Prince Abdullah
described the bombings as a "satanic act" carried out by "Satans of deviated
thinking" who promised that those who kill innocent people would go to paradise.
He called on other Arab countries to fight extremism. "But, what bothers me is
what is happening in Arab countries and on a larger scale."
Crown Prince Abdullah said "the Riyadh blasts
have not affected ties with the United States." "We have good relationships with
the U.S. They respect our stances and traditions. What has been reported is
baseless. The Americans have never asked us to specific things. Moreover, those
who say that our relationship with the U.S. is tense, they mess up the
international affairs, notably issues relating to the region and the Middle
East," he added.
