New industrial service company in Jeddah
JEDDAH, 14 July — Plans are under way to establish an industrial service
company in Jeddah with an estimated capital of SR100 million. The new company
will supply trained Saudi manpower required by various industries.
The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s industrial committee is
discussing the establishment of the company with the support of industrialists.
The company will establish an academy to provide advanced courses in 50
specializations in cooperation with German technical training centers and in
coordination with the General Organization for Technical Education and
Vocational Training.
Dr. Helmi Qasim Al-Turki, a member of the committee, told Al-Watan Arabic
daily that the idea would be expanded to cover other cities at a later stage.
The services to be provided by the new company includes housing,
transportation, medical service, health insurance, maintenance, cleaning and
security.
The company’s activities will be expanded in the future to meet the needs of
major firms like Saudi Aramco and SABIC as well as banks and hospitals.
It also plans to operate a fleet of trucks to transport raw materials to
factories and half-finished and finished products to factories and warehouses.
"The company intends to operate buses inside the industrial city as well as
to and from the industries, workshops and spare parts shops outside the city,"
Turki said.
The company has wide scope of work as it plans to provide financial and
accounting services as well as national and international marketing services,
and joint purchase, advertising and management services.
"These services will help industries improve their performance and
productivity and reduce expenditures, "Turki pointed out.
The company will first provide basic services before expanding to other
areas. It also intends to establish specialized companies for each of these
services, Turki said, adding that the new firms will come under the parent
holding company.
