Dubai,
UAE, April 12,2001
TEKLA, the world’s
leading supplier of model-based operational software for the
construction and energy sectors, today announced the establishment of
its Middle East operations with a headquarter office to be located in
the Dubai Internet City. Mr.
Paul McIver has been appointed to manage TEKLA’s Middle East
operations.
The establishment of
Middle East operations allows TEKLA to work more effectively with its
regionally-based construction customers.
These clients include well-known Gulf-based giants, such as:
Emirates Building Systems, Cleveland Bridge, J. Ray McDermott, and Zamil
Steel.
“TEKLA’s products
have already proven successful in Gulf markets, and the opening of the
Dubai office will further support both existing customers, as well as
newly acquired ones,” said Paul McIver, manager for TEKLA Middle East.
“We
intend to initially focus our efforts on the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
and Egypt, because we believe that these are the markets that will
benefit most from the implementation of our ‘X’ product family,”
he added.
TEKLA is a technology
leader and pioneer for customers converting their IT systems from
document-based to model-based, in a fast-changing network environment.
Its products form the X product family, pioneered internationally
by Xsteel, an application for modeling and detailing of steel
structures, and Xpower, a network management solution for energy
distributors.
These
two products, along with Xcity, a unique, flexible Spatial Information
Management System that supports organizations responsible for land-use
planning, cadastral services and large scale map management, form the
backbone of Tekla’s thrust into Middle East markets.
Middle East Customers
“The speed and
flexibility of Xsteel has allowed us to increase our productivity and
effectiveness within the engineering support office. Direct download of
plate, beam and tubular profiling information to CNC machinery has
enhanced our detail product planning. We have been able to issue
fabrication shop drawings quickly in order to meet the growing demand
for track jobs,” said Michael Cross of J. Ray McDermott.
“Due to the versatility
of Xsteel, we are able to undertake steel projects of a different nature
and expand our business in directions other than the traditional type of
buildings on which we have made our reputation,” said Peter Bisset of
Emirates Building System.
“With
flexible report generation, automatic drawing creation and automatic
clash detection, Xsteel decreases costs by providing accurate material
lists, reducing the time-to-manufacture, and minimizing fabrication and
assembly errors,” added new TEKLA manager McIver.
McIver
joins TEKLA after more than six years in the region as a sales and
marketing executive, promoting CAD and GIS applications and software
systems for the building and construction sector.
