GSM-Short Messaging Service Application from Logica
Alerts
Customers of Pending Bills and Credit Limits
14 April 2001
Riyadh,
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Logica,
the global IT solutions provider, has today announced that Saudi Telecom
Company (STC) has tested and now deployed Logica's GSM - short messaging
service (SMS) notification solution.
The Logica system will enable STC, the Kingdom’s sole
telecommunications provider, to contact its customers with critical,
customer-specific information via messages delivered to the end-user’s
mobile telephone.
“Saudi
Telecom Company is committed to continually improving the communications
services it offers its customers, enriching their lives with quickly
deployed, advanced technological solutions,” said Khaled Al Jasser,
General Manager of Customer’s Services and Sales with STC’s Mobile
Business Unit.
The
GSM-SMS notification solution gives telecommunications providers like
STC the capability to notify customers of bills that require payment and
credit limits that have been approached. The service benefits STC’s
customers by alerting them to pay the outstanding bill and, in doing so,
maintaining their telephone services’ continuity.
The
SMS notification application will tell the customer that his bill is
ready for collection, complete with balance and account details, or that
it is now overdue, and, finally, that his service will be disconnected
in the next few days, if payment is not received.
“As
the number of mobile phone users in Saudi Arabia grows exponentially,
new technologies must be deployed for STC to communicate with them
quickly and efficiently.
Logica’s SMS solution is adding a critical new dimension to
STC’s customer-service strategy,” said Derek A. Kemp, chief
executive officer of Logica in the Middle East.
“Logica
is proud to have been selected as STC’s technology partner on this SMS
notification solution, and we share their enthusiasm about the
system’s ‘on time’ delivery and roll-out,” added Kemp.
