6 February 2003- Jeddah Modern Products Company (MPC) organised a female tour of its local manufacturing facilities in the industrial area in Jeddah. The visit, attended by a large number of leading women from various healthcare establishments, charities, institutions, and the regional media, forms part of the company’s commitment to establish ties with the female sector and comes at the time when the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary and its recent SR 220 million investment to upgrade its Jeddah-based production facility.

During the visit female guests were provided with a presentation from the company’s female employees on the latest ‘Always’ feminine hygiene products, and the high quality standards and latest technology implemented within the production lines. The presentation also included an overview of the company’s social responsibility activities, including details on the school educational programme that MPC is currently conducting in girl’s schools throughout Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.

More than 200,000 female students are estimated to have benefited from the programme, which has been highly commended by parents and school authorities alike. The company also shared its vision to expand its community programs to include other important female issues related to the health sector.

Initially established back in 1982, MPC first launched its “Always” production line in 1987, which has been upgraded several times until recently when it had a major upgrade with a further investment of more than SR10 million, making it the largest production line of its kind in the region.

With production facilities based in Jeddah and Dammam, MPC and its sister company, Modern Industries Company (MIC), are the manufacturers of leading household products in the kingdom, including Pampers, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Always, Tide, Ariel and Fairy.

The companies are one of the largest exporters in the region – and, MPC and MIC now export more than 50% of their products to 59 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe. The combined sales of the two companies reach more than SR 2 billion in 2002.

The companies also encourage Saudisation - and Saudi nationals take more than 70 percent of management positions throughout the companies. MPC and MIC invest more than SR20 million in training every year.
