Over
250 institutes from around the globe is taking part in the 13th
Gulf Education and Training Exhibition, which will be held at the Dubai
World Trade Centre from April 24th to
27th , 2001.
“This show attracted national
pavilions from UK, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, UAE, USA,
Germany and France,” said David Domoney, Managing Director,
International Conferences and Exhibitions, at a press conference
yesterday.
The
show, which will be held under the patronage of H. E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin
Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific
Research, will showcase over 30,000 educational programs and courses
from these countries.
Last
year, the show
attracted over 12,300 people and covered an area of 3,600 sq. meters.
Predictions for this year’s attendance are even higher, aiming not
only at students but also parents, teachers and manpower training
specialists.
Along
side the exhibition, a series of seminars organised by some exhibitors
will also be held. The seminars will allow parents and students alike,
the priceless opportunity to learn more about the various institutes and
is an interactive forum for questions and answers.
“Many
students prefer to continue their education abroad, especially students
of the expatriate community,” added Domoney.
“The
emphasis of education in the GCC is becoming more noticeable. In the
UAE, the levels of education is continuously improving and developing,
with the backing of the government and the foresight of leaders like His
Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has been the driving
force behind the IT education programme in Dubai,” he added.
Also
attending the press conference were senior officials from the Ministry
of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Canadian Consulate,
Australian Consulate and the British Council.

the Exhibition:
The Exhibition will be
opened daily from 1000 - 1300h and 1700 - 2100h at Halls 5a & 5 at
the Dubai World Trade Centre and admission is free.
