Launches Supply Chain Functionality for Members of its B2B Marketplace
Gulf
Agency Company is First Logistics Expert to Join Tejari.com and
Utilize New Feature
Dubai,
United Arab Emirates
Tejari.com,
the Middle East’s premier business-to-business marketplace, today
announced the availability of a new feature, Supply Chain Exchange,
which enables Tejari’s members to collaborate more efficiently and
better manage supply and demand.
The new functionality provides Tejari’s members with an
up-to-the-minute view of inventory, as well as multi-enterprise order
tracking.
The
Supply Chain Exchange was developed on an open architecture platform
based on industry standards, enabling easy integration for companies
that currently use different procurement planning systems, including
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, e-mail, EDI, or even
spreadsheets.
“The
new Supply Chain Exchange functionality is part of the continuous
enhancement of Tejari as both an auction and transaction-based
marketplace as well as a truly collaborative Internet business model.
This advanced feature will benefit Tejari’s members by
reducing inventory levels for both suppliers and buyers, while
providing all members with a more efficient communication and
collaboration tool,” commented Lubna Al Qasimi, Managing Director of
Tejari.com.
In
addition to better inventory management, Tejari’s members will
receive a number of advantages from the added Supply Chain Exchange
feature. They include an
increased ability to follow customer demand, decreased
order-to-delivery cycle times, and faster material and information
flow through the supply chain.
Gulf Agency Company, one of Tejari’s newest members and among the
first supply chain management and logistics companies to join the
marketplace, will also be one of the first to utilize the new
functionality. Based in
Jebel Ali Free Zone, GAC manages storage and distribution for
multinational clients including Unilever, Johnson & Johnson and
Nestle.
GAC
plans to expand its market reach by offering online sea and airfreight
tracking to Tejari’s buyers and sellers, in addition to its
distribution, bunker and lubricant services.
The company will also utilize Tejari to streamline procurement
activities for its offices in the regions of Africa,
East Mediterranean, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and East Asia.
Per Zachrisson, GAC’s Managing Director, signed the agreement with
Tejari.com. He commented,
“Logistics and supply chain management are two fundamental
components of any online marketplace.
GAC and Tejari have tremendous synergy, and we are delighted to
be coming online with the new Supply Chain Exchange functionality,
which will enable GAC to collaborate more efficiently with our
business partners.”
“GAC also plans to utilize Tejari to further expand our Internet
business strategy across our shipping, distribution and marine
contracting divisions. We
anticipate that Tejari membership will enable GAC to decrease our
internal procurement costs while entering new markets
instantaneously,” he added.
Buying
and selling online through Tejari will complement GAC’s existing
online strategy, which includes initiatives such as the MyGAC portal
and provision of ship supply services over the Internet.
Currently GAC enables its clients in the Middle East to track
sea and airfreight and access its logistics and distribution services
through the Internet.
“GAC
brings a vital component to Tejari’s marketplace with its logistics
and shipping expertise,” continued Al
Qasimi. “We welcome
GAC’s knowledge of international distribution to Tejari’s online
community of buyers and sellers, especially as their signing up
corresponds perfectly with Tejari’s new Supply Chain Exchange
feature,” she concluded.
