Over
12,000 visitors expected to attend the annual educational event
21
March 2001
The
Gulf Education & Training Exhibition, the largest student
recruitment event in the Arab world, is expected to attract 250
participating institutes from over 24 countries this year. This year’s
event will take place on the 24th until 27th of April 2001 at the Dubai
World Trade Center.
The
show, which will be held under the Patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin
Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific
Research, will showcase over 30,000 educational programs and courses
from the UAE, Bahrain, Australia, USA, Germany, UK, Canada, France,
Malaysia and many more countries to students attending this year’s
exhibition.
After
the great success of last year’s show, which attracted over 12,300
people and covered an area of 3,600 sq. meters, predictions for this
year’s attendance are even higher, aiming not only at students but
also parents, teachers and manpower training specialists. The exhibition
is set to provide visitors with an ideal opportunity to experience a
series of ‘hands on’ seminars showcasing information about the range
of educational options available worldwide.
“The
Gulf Education and Training Exhibition has established itself as the
largest, most extensively publicized and successful student recruitment
event in the Middle East, enjoying positive feedback and a growing number
of participants from all sectors,” commented David Domoney, Managing
Director, International Conferences
&
Exhibitions, organisers of the show. “The comprehensive range of
issues covered throughout the exhibition provide a core source of
up-to-date information allowing a far greater insight into the best
opportunities available for individuals and institutions alike.”
Approximately
10,000 pupils graduate from UAE private schools each year, many of whom
continue to seek education abroad. While educational opportunities in
the UAE show substantial growth, a high percentage of student’s
-including Indians, Pakistanis, non-UAE Arab nationals and British
expatriates– continue to choose overseas institutions. Many are drawn
to areas such as North America, the UK and Australia, where they
may have existing family ties. ‘The Students Lounge’ at the show
will provide a meeting place for many such students, and offers the
latest courses available worldwide.
Priority
areas that will be dealt with during the show include engineering,
computer science and IT, medicine, dentistry, business administration
and financial management. Other popular choices include agriculture,
environmental science and pharmaceuticals.
“The
12th annual Gulf Education and Training Exhibition was a well-organized
high quality exhibition,” stated Arjumand Abdullah, Marketing
Services, Dubai Polytechnic. “The event was a huge success with a
large number of exhibitors and a sustained stream of visitors even on
the weekend. In response to the event, we have estimated over 3000
enquiries”.
“The
exhibition was fantastic and very valuable to Preston University and we
will certainly attend next year’s event,” said Dr Jerry Haenisch,
Chancellor of Preston University.
“The
response from the Arab region to our participation was very positive and
strong,” stated a spokesman from Sydney University, Australia.
