Arabian Business.com Web
Index* and Alexa Research both place arabia.com in top spot
arabia.com also releases
information on the Arab world surfers
(Dubai, UAE
– May 3rd 2001)
Two leading research companies placed arabia.com as the undisputed
No.1 destination for Arab Internet users. In two independent surveys conducted
separately, the US-based Alexa Research and the Dubai-based Arabian
Business.com magazine show arabia.com as the top Arab portal.
The Alexa results also demonstrate the
supremacy of arabia.com in page views estimated to reach over 22 million during
the same month. This latest Internet survey conducted by such a highly reputed
company gives an added recognition to the value of services arabia.com has been
providing.
“Our
leadership in Arab websites ranking is maintained simply because we
continuously keep developing and upgrading our existing services and introduce
new ideas,” said Ramzi Zeine, CEO of arabia.com. “ Internationally-recognized
methods of surveys to measure websites ranking mainly depend on the audience
reach defined as unique users.”
Amongst
the new services and channels introduced by arabia.com during the first quarter
of 2001 is ‘Mersal’, the first fully bilingual instant messenger to provide
unique features in the region such as the interoperability with Yahoo and ICQ
messengers. And new upgraded version of the Wanees media player, which enables
users to play most available audio and video formats, and also a careers
channel powered by Bayt.com.

Double confirmation that arabia.com is the Arab world’s leading site
Richard
Evans, Chief Operating Officer at arabia.com said “These rankings match what we
know from our own research. arabia.com today released a profile of the average
MENA user. It shows that the average surfer is a late night owl surfing from
home, visits a narrow repertoire of sites, typically less than 6 sites.
Loyalty,” he adds” is very high in the portal industry, maintaining an
excellent level of service and constantly introducing new services are
therefore key to maintaining leadership in the region. And that’s what
arabia.com is doing and committed to do in the future.
