The
Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, one of the region’s most diverse trading and
manufacturing organizations, has signed a deal to buy and sell online
through Tejari.com, the Middle East’s premier business-to-business
marketplace. Membership in Tejari will form the cornerstone of the
Al Gurg Group’s e-commerce strategy, enabling the trading giant to
sell a diversity of products online, ranging from household appliances
to cables, steel and furniture. The Group also plans to procure
through Tejari raw materials for its manufacturing units, which produce
products including welded steel mesh, heavy duty and decorative paints, furniture,
construction chemicals, industrial explosives, electrical switchgear
etc.
The
Al Gurg Group anticipates that Tejari will enable it to streamline its
tendering and procurement cycles. The Group will also utilize
Tejari to source materials and services for its collaboration with its
principals in setting up power and allied industrial projects.
“Diversification
and growth have formed the foundation of our business, and pursuing an
e-commerce strategy through Tejari.com will enable the Al Gurg Group to
receive the benefits of online procurement and creating an Internet
sales channel,” stated the Group’s Chairman, His Excellency Easa
Saleh Al Gurg, CBE.
“As
a long-standing member of the Middle East’s business community, we
support the growth of e-commerce initiatives like Tejari, which enable
this region to compete more effectively in the world economy,” added
Al Gurg.
Over
the last four decades, the Al Gurg Group has grown to represent
prominent brands including British American Tobacco, ICI, Unilever,
Brown & Williamson International Tobacco, Benetton, Siemens, Osram,
Armitage Shanks, Stanton, Catnic, Yorkshire Copper Tubes, Dunlop,
Grundig, Heuga and many others. Tejari membership will enable
the Group to create a new channel for working with its global
principals.
“The
Al Gurg Group, with its diversity in industry and products, is
an ideal member for a horizontal marketplace like Tejari. With the Al
Gurg Group on board, our members will have access to thousands of
products and services across a number of vital sectors,” stated Lubna
Al Qasimi, Managing Director of Tejari.com.
“We
welcome such a prominent member of the Middle East’s business
community to the marketplace. The e-commerce strategy espoused by
the Al Gurg Group demonstrates that regional organizations are moving to
embrace new technologies and business models to enhance their
competitiveness and profitability,” added Al Qasimi.
